Dr. Saryu Fensin, Ph.D.

Dr. Saryu Fensin is the Founder and CEO of Discovery 2 Scale, where she is building the autonomous foundry for advanced materials. A nationally recognized materials scientist and technology leader, she has spent more than 15 years developing and transitioning advanced materials for defense, aerospace, and energy applications. Her expertise spans structure-property relationships, materials design, manufacturing science, autonomous experimentation, high-strain-rate mechanical behavior, and qualification of mission-critical materials. Prior to founding D2S, Dr. Fensin led multidisciplinary research programs at Los Alamos National Laboratory, managing large technical teams and multi-million-dollar portfolios while delivering advanced materials solutions for the Department of Energy, Department of War, and industry. She combines deep technical expertise with a proven record of building programs, leading teams, and translating scientific innovation into deployable technologies.

Dr. George T. "Rusty" Gray III serves on the Discovery 2 Scale Advisory Board, bringing more than four decades of leadership in materials science, mechanical metallurgy, and dynamic materials behavior. A member of the National Academy of Engineering, former President of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS), and longtime Los Alamos National Laboratory Fellow, Dr. Gray has helped shape the science of advanced structural materials for defense, aerospace, and energy applications. At D2S, he provides strategic guidance on materials engineering, qualification, and the transition of advanced materials from laboratory innovation to real-world deployment.

Dr. Aisha Haynes

Dr. Aisha Haynes is an accomplished advanced materials and defense technology leader with more than 20 years of experience translating materials innovation into mission applications. She currently serves as Vice President and Advanced Materials Practice Area Lead at Strategic Marketing Innovations and Technical Director of the United States Advanced Ceramics Association. Previously, as Principal Director for the Advanced Materials Critical Technology Area, she provided strategic leadership for the Department of Defense’s enterprise-wide materials science and technology portfolio. As an advisory board member, Dr. Haynes provides Discovery 2 Scale with strategic guidance on advanced materials, defense markets, commercialization, and industrial-base growth.
